Summary: Girls Coding Camp

We propose a mentoring and learning program to introduce incoming 8th-10th grade girls who are not enrolled in a computer science class to computer science, and programming. The main purpose of this program is to get students interested in different concepts of computer science and programming and get them familiar with their applications in different fields. To do so, our instructors become mentors and role models for the students via engaging activities and presentations of womxn working in computer science.

Due to COVID restrictions, this series of workshops will be delivered remotely via zoom, in groups of 15 students each. 4nVenir, Inc. will allocate five mentors per group, so the ratio, mentor:student, is 1:3.

The dates to deliver the workshops are 5 consecutive days during June 2021 or July 2021 with 2.5 hours of synchronous learning in the morning for one group and afternoon for a second group

The students are to be recruited by the Sacramento County Office of Education.

Summary: Introduction to Robotics

We propose a mentoring and learning program to introduce incoming 6th-8th grade students to robotics, computer science, and programming. The main purpose of this program is to spark interest in all topics related to robotics: computer science, programming, sensors, mechanics, and engineering. To do so, our instructors become mentors and role models for the students via engaging, interactive, and direct application activities in robotics.

Due to COVID restrictions, this series of workshops will be delivered remotely via zoom, in groups of 15 students each. 4Venir, Inc. will allocate five mentors per group, so the ratio, mentor:student, is 1:3.
